Forest Practice Watershed Mapper

This Forest Practice Watershed Mapper allows users to identify the status of a specific planning watershed in accordance with the Anadromous Salmonid Protection (ASP) Rules, which require that every timber operation contribute to salmonid habitat restoration.

The Forest Practice Watershed Mapper displays timber harvesting activities at the planning watershed level to provide information on past and present timber harvesting activities.

You can find your area of interest using a Calwater Planning Watershed number, a THP or NTMP number, or by Township, Range, and Section. You may also pan and zoom to the area of interest, interactively with the map.

Microsoft Silverlight, a free plug-in, is required to view the Forest Practice Watershed Mapper. If not already installed on your computer, you will be prompted to install it. Follow the steps, and then the Mapper will load.

More About the Anadromous Salmonid Protection (ASP) Rules
The California Forest Practice Act (3.8MB, .pdf) regulates timber harvesting in the state. The ASP Rules (2010) apply in planning watersheds with state or federally listed anadromous salmonids, and those that are restorable. For Class I and II watercourses, rule requirements differ based on whether a planning watershed is found within the Coastal Anadromy Zone (CAZ) or outside this zone.
