CALFIRE's Fire and Resource Assessment Program (FRAP) is required by the California legislature to produce periodic assessments of the forests and rangelands of California. California's Forests and Rangelands: 2017 Assessment represents the most recent update to a series of assessment reports dating back to the late 1970s.

The 2017 Assessment covers a broad range of topics across both private and public lands. Each chapter includes a number of indicators that collectively are used to evaluate the sustainability of forest and range lands. You may download the final document in its entirety or by chapter here.
